This dance community project was initiated in 2016 by Ostružina z.s. in collaboration with Tanec Praha z.ú. / PONEC- dance venue as pilot project Dance for Žižkov! at the Elementary school Cimburkova, Prague 3.

In 2018 – 2021 it was already running under the name Let’s meet in dance – Crazy dance breaks  at the schools Cimburkova Elementary School, Prague 3 and Trávníčkova Elementary School, Prague 13.

Once a month excerpts from dance and movement performances came to the school. You could find them during the longest break in the corridors or outside, in the neighborhood of the school. On the same day, a class interested in the project had the opportunity to follow a workshop with the artist(s) and discover more about the performance itself, how it was created and everything related to it.

school year 2020/2021

Let’s meet in dance

In connection with the epidemiological measures of the Czech government, the continuation of the project took place only in the school year 2020/2021, when it was shown twice in September in the outdoor spaces of Kostnické náměstí in Prague 3 for the pupils of Cimburkova Primary School and then, in December 2020, filmed as a video in the surroundings of Trávníčkova Primary School.

We have invited excerpts from solo performances by the artists:

Viktor Černický – PLI

Cecile Da Costa – Roselyne

Markéta Stránská – LeŤ

 tYhle – LES FANTÔMES

Roselyne has a lot to say. Phantoms use the corners. Markéta is interested in what new obstacle will bring her, and Victor builds incredible pieces out of ordinary objects.”

The film, coupled with an online workshop, has subsequently become part of distance learning in some primary schools in the Czech Republic. It was also shown as part of the Festival of Art and Creativity in Education, organised by SPKV (Society for Creativity in Education) in collaboration with DOX in January 2021. In the spring it was then included in the Czech Television EDU programme and online workshops with artists combined with short films in PONEC Junior, PONEC Theatre’s online public programme.
